Valerie, the "country girl" he’d mocked, was now the one looking down from the top floor. He was just the man behind the wheel, waiting for his next fare.
Life is a series of choices, and Paul finally understood that he’d made the wrong ones. He sighed, put the car in gear, and drove off into the city traffic, the gap between him and Valerie now an unbridgeable canyon. That’s just how life works sometimes. 😉
